1998  THE SINGLES COLLECTION 1966-73 (Castle Communications CCS CD 821) Double CD compilation release with the tracks digitally remastered. Disc One was made up of the Pye recorded singles (both 'a' & 'b' sides) as Status Quo. "Railroad" was also included split into two parts from the German single. Disc Two included The Spectres and Traffic Jam singles (again both 'a' & 'b' sides) together with a number of previously unissued recordings. "Walking With My Angel" and "When He Passed By" were recordings made by The Spectres which had previously never been issued. "Walking With My Angel" had been originally recorded by Bobby Vee in 1961 as the b-side to his "Run To Him" single and "When He Passed You By" was the first song that Alan Lancaster wrote. The recording of "Spicks And Specks" was also made by The Spectres and was quite different from the version recorded by Quo for their "Picturesque Matchstickable Messages" album in 1968. The alternative versions of "Neighbour, Neighbour" (a later recording made as Status Quo), "Pictures Of Matchstick Men", "The Price Of Love", "José", "Time To Fly", "Nanana" and "Something Going On In My Head" were not very different from original issued recordings. "Gerdundula" was an instrumental version of the original recording of the song, the recordings of "Tune To The Music" were different backing tracks without any vocals and "Is It Really Me?" / "Gotta Go Home" was reduced to five and a half minutes (compared to the nearly seven minute recording on "Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon" album). "Laughing Machine" was simply a longer extract of the 'laughing' included on the "Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon" album. Released on the 22nd.
